ABOUT

St. Mary's School is a parish school and part of the Diocese of Cleveland school system. Our philosophy is to provide a warm, happy and creative atmosphere for learning and for fostering love of self, love of others, love of God.

St. Mary School is excited to announce that we received the "Governor's Thomas Edison Award for Excellence in STEM Education and Student Research" for the third year in a row.  St. Mary School is honored that we were chosen as a recipient of this award from the Ohio Academy of Science for our student originated, inquiry-based learning in science education.

St. Mary School students and teachers are also celebrating our recent STEM success. We were one of 14 schools in the state to receive the "Harold C. Shaw Memorial Outstanding School Award" for our achievements at State Science Day.

St. Mary's is a school spanning Preschool through Eighth Grade. We have one classroom per grade.  Our enrollment for the 2022-23 School Year is 143 students in Preschool to 8th grade. We offer small class sizes to meet the individual needs of our students.

Our faculty consists of nine full time teachers, five part-time teachers( art, music, physical education, Spanish and Religious Studies), two educational paraprofessionals, a speech therapist, a tutor, a psychologist, and many volunteers. All employees and volunteers who have contact with students undergo thorough screening, including background checks through the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation & Identification (BCI & FBI).  For complete information on screening policies, see the revised  Policy for the Safety of Children in Matters of Sexual Abuse, section 1.2(p.3).

The Kindergarten program is an all day, every day program that offers the full range of subjects. Most of our students are reading (determined by readiness) by the end of the Kindergarten year. We emphasis learning by exposure and not pressure. To enter our kindergarten program, a child must be five years old on or before September 30th for fall entry.

Our curriculum is very complete and encompassing. To cover Reading, Phonics, Math, English, vocabulary, Social Studies, Science, Health, Science lab, spelling, handwriting, gym, music, art, computer, and Spanish, our school day begins at 8 a.m. for 7th and 8th grade, and 9 a.m. for Kindergarten through 6th grade. We have a psychologist, a speech therapist, and a tutor available for those students with a specific need as determined by state qualifications. We offer an enrichment program to supplement our already challenging and accelerated curriculum. We promote an environment of hands on learning that meets the needs of children and encourages individual student inquiry and exploration. Religion lessons are presented daily and we attend Church weekly. Religion is very important in our school as love of each other is our core! We demand every class to be involved in service projects aiding those in need.

St. Mary's offers a variety of services to aid our students and their families:

  • We have an extended day program that is available before school (7:00-8:45 a.m.) and after school (3:30-5:30 p.m.).

  • We also participate in Parks & Recreation sport programs which offer many sport activities.
