Josie Shafer grew up in southern Ashland County on a grain farm where she developed her love for the outdoors. Both of her parents were teachers in the local area and helped her passion for education emerge. Combining her love of adventure, the outdoors and education, she has traveled the world and taught in both Ohio and California. She holds a BS in Education and brings her knowledge of math, science and writing to the students of St. Mary’s. She believes that each and every student can succeed in and out of the classroom and she brings hands on activities to get real world experiences. One of her main objectives is to prepare her students for the real world through collaborative learning, real world problems and solutions, STEM activities and volunteering.
